Jean le Blanc

Jean le Blanc (aka: Outoutagan; Ottoutagan; Jean Le Bland) was an Ottawa Chief at Fort Michilimackinac. He moved to the Detroit area in 1702. Le Blanc was the son of Chief Le Talon and the brother of Chief Miscouaky. He was married to a French (?) woman named Techenet (perhaps: Elisabeth Couc,or La Chenette, or Montour), daughter of Pierre Couc dit Lafleur and of Marie Miteouagamegoukoue.

Le Blanc attended and spoke at the Great Peace Council at Montreal, July 25, 1701, where he signed the general.

In 1706, the Ottawa attacked a Miami village near Fort Ponchartrain du Detroit. Le Blanc was opposed to the attack and tried, without success, to negotiate peace between the tribes. On June 18, 1707, Le Blanc attended a conference at Montreal, where he offered himself as a hostage to cool French anger over the death of a Father Del Halle, as casualty of the Ottawa attack of 1706.
