Quarante Sols

Quarante Sols was a Ouendot (Wyandotte; aka Huron) chief who lived in a village near Fort Michilimackinac before moving to Detroit. He was born in 1659. On April 27, 1707, he was baptised under the name of Louis Antoine Cheauonvouzon, with Cadillac as his godfather. Quarante Sols died the day of his baptism. It is likely that he was near death and was baptized for that reason.
